TNG 1.1 OR TNG 2.0

Simple question, do you have more TNG 2 maps than 1.1

As you know and has been said here and elsewhere they are not completely interchangeable. Some play Ok, some don't, the reason is different weapons, armies, etc. in the objects files.

This server originally stayed with 1.1 because 2.0 doesn't record properly in the stats system. Global score, medals, ranks and promotions are OK(I think!) but nothing else. Does that matter? are you bothered? I know some players keep a careful eye on such things, others couldn't care less.

So, do you think we should change to TNG 2.0 or stay as we are bearing in mind that you may have to download a whole fresh set of TNG maps?

I play 1.1. I don't care abot stats. If TNG 2.0 offers more fun maps to play, I will change it to 2.0. There is no problem for me :-)

Thanks for the reply.... The maps in TNG 2.0 are exactly the same but with different armies etc. No new weapons or vehicles.

Hi,

wir haben komplett auf tng2 umgestellt.
der wichtigste grund sind die custom-map's von nwm-kgb..

was neu und anderst ist in tng2 steht in folgendem readme:

Many people will ask: Why an update to TNG 2.0?
Some maps of TNG 1.0/1.1 are not so good balanced, specially for Conquest mode.
"Gazala", "Fushe Pass" and "Highway Tampa" are to easy in Coop,
others like "Kirkuk Basin", "Gulf of Oman" or "Dragon Valley" to hard in CQ.

So the main Idea for TNG 2.0 was to make it more playable in Conquest.

Other Changes we made on some Inf maps. On these maps you have now no Antitank or Engineer Kit.
On these maps you have now for each side a second Supporter and Medic.

The UN side become now "own" Ground Vehicles to fight against the US on some maps. UN has nearly same Vehicles
like the US but also they become the Jeep Technical, and both sides have different Skins.
All UN Skins are complete new and made by Sanistik, which I will say a big Thank You once again!

"The Push Day" now comes in a second version: "The Sniper Day". On these maps your have only Sniper in all 7 Kits,
nothing else. This map is only for Conquest.

After installing this Mappack you have 3 aix2_tng_***.zip Files in your battlefield2/mods/aix/levels Folder.

nachtrag zu tng2:

ein beispiel: map tng_road_to_jalalabad auf unserem server.

mit dem m1a2 zum gegner, einige kills gemacht, spielzeit ca. 10 min.
spiel beendet, einige sec. gewartet und dann bei aixs stats nachgeschaut.

total-time +10, kit = 0, amor = 0 > warum ?
den grund findet man im tng2 framework:
m1a2 = killmsg m1a2 dann ein link auf m1a2_v2
das script unter m1a2_v2 ist eine exakte kopie des m1a2 aus aix2 nur wurde hier die killmsg auf m1a2_v2 geändert und wird von aixs als unbekannt verworfen.
soweit auch korrekt.
der gleiche schwachsinn wird bei vielen fahrzeugen und auch in den kits so betrieben. auch die 38 maps mit tng_... sind kopien von aix2.

wo der eigendliche vorteil von tng steckt konnten wir nicht ergründen.
aus diesem grund haben wir tng(2)maps von unserem server genommen.

bei den kgb_..maps haben wir ähnliches entdeckt. einige fahrzeuge sind hier mit
_v1 oder _v2 markiert. die stammen aber aus dem kgb framework.
die maps sind gut, haben aber einige fehler die aber leicht zu korrigieren sind.
nachteil: jegliche änderung an den gameplay-scripten bedeutet das spieler ohne diese änderungen mit einem ctd rausfliegen. sorry...

The ONLY maps that the stats track completely are the original AIX maps, they are hard coded into the stats system.
We did think to add maps as they were created but it's difficult to do and there were so many being made it was too much.
As things stand at the moment the stats record scores, medals, promotions but unless the map is an original, times with weapons are not.

For example: Fly an F22 and kills will be counted but the stats do not know what an F22 is so cannot record fly times.

Hold on, unser beitrag zu tng2 war nicht gegen aixs gerichtet sondern an diejenigen, welche sich fragen, warum tng-maps nicht gewertet werden...

und die F22, genauer f22a raptor, wird komplett in aixs gewertet ! sehr gut.

I'm not in any way criticising TNG 2'0!
My original post was in response to players who CTD when coming to my server and playing TNG maps. I did not want them to think the problem lay with their PC and spend a lot of time trying to make it work.

The incompatibility problem is mention here and elsewhere yet it seems players either do not read the posts or do not understand when they do.

The stats do record F22 you are quite right, a jet is a jet and that's all the stats need. I did not give a very good example.

You know why BFA uses TNG 1.1 however I think it would help if we all agreed on one or the other.

If we all go 2.0 then the players using 1.1 will complain and vice versa.

Really we need input from NWM guys as they are the most active modders at the moment to see which version they prefer.
